Juan Laya, Jorge Montiel & their infamous band Los Charly’s Orchestra appears once again on the Neo Latin arena with a monster rework of Jhonny Colon’s masterpiece.

Merecumbe became a landmark of the NY Salsa landscape of the 70′s and is now been re-issued on a Latin Disco style that will stamp the forthcoming generations to come.

Fania & Salsoul meets electronic instrumentation for a deep Latin House version which comes on the flip side as contrast to the main Disco version.

The spirit of the South American revolution flies across the Atlantic crossing through Europe, all the way through Asia & Australia with this outstanding rework of the Nuyorican classic “Merecumbe”.

Think summers gone? Think again. Party time approaches and this is festive music to chase away your winter blues! Los Charly’s Orchestra have hit the spot yet again with this new single, a classic cover of Grazing In Grass in the style of the iconic 1968 Fania Records/ Orchestra Harlow version featured in the Tarantino movie Jackie Brown. This is late-20th-century music brought straight to 21st-century dancefloors. Originally a huge instrumental hit for South African music legend Hugh Masekela, The Friends of Distinction recorded the tune with new lyrics and took it high into the US charts in 1969. The Orchestra Harlow version, led by Larry Harlow (El Judio Maravilloso) was Salsa in its infancy and a mix of Latin Jazz, Boogaloo, Latin R&B and just about every afro-Caribbean rhythm which shaped things to come. Los Charly’s add new lyrics and bring back the vibrant 1968 sound of Fania, New York, Harlem and the Bronx, guaranteed to have you dancing and singing.

Nuyorican Disco Band, Los Charly’s Orchestra comes to Floridita for a very especial edition of Boogaloo, 70’s Salsa & Latin Funk. Stirring the melting pot, the multicultural congregation of Los Charly’s Orchestra (lead by Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel) takes it on a brand new venture, searching back into the spectrum of Afro Latin fusion, Boogaloo, Latin Jazz & Heavy 70’s Salsa, this project marks the beginning of a new period in the production career of the London based production duo & Los Charly’s Orchestra.

The line up of this band includes some of the usual characters behind Los Charly’s activities. They will be on rotation, bringing special guests and many surprises to Floridita every Saturday.

Los Charly’s are back with another bomb of Latin-Funk & Boogaloo for all those who like to move to the rhythm of the Latin groove!

Digging far into their Afro Latin Funk influences, London based band – Los Charly’s Orchestra has come up with this brand new single: “Al Ritmo Del Latin Funk” (To the Rhythm of the Latin Funk) plus a supa Latin Funk version of the hidden jam “Descarga Cachao” (Cachao’s Jam).

If James Brown had ever worked with the Fania crew this is probably what they would have come up with…

The digital release comes with a bonus remix, a kind of Balearic – Chill Out House version of “Descarga Cachao”, just the perfect soundtrack for this summer.

In contrast from the original sound of Los Charly’s Orchestra Mr Capitan Futuro has gone for cleaner sounding style, also adding some scratching and MCing to complete the NEO Latin-Funk formula.

Capitan Futuro is Bruises n’ Cuts (Cast-A-Blast fame) and DJ Butcher (Chopshop fame). BnC is also the MC on Symphony Sid. Keyboards on My Barrio by Yannis Dimitriadis. He plays for Omar Faruk tekbilek amongst others and has a daily radio show on Cosmos radio Athens.
